Sleeping soundly

Did you know that 1 out of 4 babies suffers from colic? Well, we got our 1 out of 4. I'm glad she came fourth because I think we're better able to handle it. I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that Alivia's gotten more and more fussy in the evening and it usually doesn't subside until she passes gas or wears herself out from crying. I'm not sure if my diet has anything to do with it, but starting today I'm going off the dairy, chocolate, caffiene, nuts, and some veggies. I don't mind going bland for a while if it helps her.
I feel sorry for her. I wanted to cry last night because I know it must hurt her. I think it's hard for any mother to watch her baby cry in pain and not know what to do for her. I'm just glad that this will only last for a few more weeks.
Sorry, we haven't posted any pictures of Alivia lately. She's got that baby acne and I hate seeing pictures of my beautiful babies with that terrible acne. Alivia's acne isn't that bad, so hopefully it will go away soon. She's getting very roly-poly. I think you can see from the picture that she's getting big cheeks and just look at those chunky arms. So cute...
If any of you have any advice about colic, please feel free to comment.

I feel for Alivia because I too was a colicy (sp?)baby. My parents tell me (often) that I didn't sleep a full night until I was almost 1, but that was because it took them that long to figure out what the problem was. I had a milk allergy and was reacting to the milk my mom was consuming. Hopefully you'll be able to figure out what's triggering it and can get her back to being a happy little baby. She's getting big and loooking adorable!

I linked to your blog through Holly's - went to IWU from 1988-2003 and recognize your names...

Our baby girl had colic (I think) - fussy in the evening, cried and cried, nothing seemed to help. Fortunately it passes eventually, but we did understand how some people can lose it with small babies. (Not that we considered doing anything but holding and loving her; it just gave us empathy and a greater understanding.)

All that to say, we have been there and know how you feel. Hang in there!

Oh, and Madelyn sometimes liked to be in a carrier (Baby Bjorn type) for a while - never hurts to try...do whatever works. :-)

hey Megan...it's Karla!!!!!
I know all about colic and crying...I walked and rocked our new little one for three months straight! Go ahead and cry with her...it will make you feel better!:)
I'm sure you've already tried these things....but I would change up the feeding schedule, if the crying starts around the same time of night...try to withhold the feeding before that for as long as possible(with out making your boobs explode!) Or you might consider a soy formula in the evenings and nursing through out the day...not sure just a suggestion. Also, I had a sling that Bayleigh loved to be in...she was attached to my body or(my)Chris' body 24/7. She'll get through it..the question is will mom?
